Negative taken for April 6, 1960, Arkansas Gazette article "The New and Old are Toured at Fort Smith," B1:2. As part of a trip to Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas, Deane visited the National Cemetery there. The cemetery was already established when it received its designation as a national cemetery in 1867. Soldiers from the Civil War, Spanish-American War, World Wars I and II, and the Korean War are buried there, as well as many early residents of Fort Smith.
